How to apply Panaflex Patch?

  1. Take out a patch and peel off protective backing.
  2. Apply sticky side to affected area. Sweat and dirt may reduce the adhesion of the patch.
  3. After application, wash your hands.

Children aged 10 to 12 years can use 1 Panadol Suppository every 4-6 hours as required. Do not exceed the maximum of 4 suppositories in a 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 48 hours except on medical advice.

Panadol Suppositories are not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Dosage

For use in adults and children aged 12 years and above. Maximum duration of use without medical advice: 7 days. Maximum total daily dose: 2 patches, even if there is more than one injured area to be treated.

Application site hypersensitivity, application site reaction, skin burning sensation, skin irritation,rash and pruritus.

The active ingredients in Panaflex Hot Patch are L-Menthol 3.85% w/w, Glycol Salicylate 2.45% w/w, Nonivamide 0.003% w/w. Panaflex Hot Patch also contains:

  • Adhesive Plaster
  • Zinc Oxide
  • Purified Lanolin (Source of Purified Lanolin: ovine)
  • Silicon Dioxide,
  • Titanium Dioxide
  • Aluminium Chlorohydrate
  • Alcohol (Alcohol does not present in final product)
  • Menthol Oil
  • Paraffin Oil

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glycol salicylate or other salicylates, menthol, nonivamide or any other ingredient of the preparation. Do not use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

Use the product with caution in patients with history of allergic reaction to aspirin, other salicylates or other NSAIDs. The product should be applied only to intact, non-diseased skin and not to skin wounds. The product should not come into contact with the eyes, nostrils, and other mucous membranes.

In case of accidental contact, the eyes or other mucous membranes should be rinsed well with water. The product should not be used with external heat, such as electric heating pad, as it may result in excessive skin irritations or skin burns. Some people may experience discomfort, particularly those with sensitive skin, if the product is used after a bath.

Patients should seek medical advice if the condition does not improve or worsens within 7 days of starting treatment. Discontinue the treatment if skin irritation occurs. Not for use in children under 12 years of age unless directed by a healthcare professional. Seizures may occur in children with a history of seizures due to the presence of terpene derivatives (menthol). Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

If you are taking anticoagulants (eg warfarin) and antiplatelet medications, please consult your doctor before using this product as it may result in increased risk of bleeding.

Overdose after incorrect topical application or due to accidental ingestion for products containing salicylates and menthol can be associated with a number of symptoms which can include: nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, sweating, tinnitus, vertigo, deafness, dizziness, ataxia, headache, confusion, drowsiness and coma.

As nonivamide is insoluble systemic exposure from ingestion is unlikely. In the event of overdose, supportive care may be required. Further management should be as clinically indicated or as recommended by the national poisons center, where available.
